[Trader Joe’s] 12 Macarons a la parisienne

We like going to Trader Joe’s because they have lots of unique food for us to try.

This time, we picked up a box of macarons.

$3.99 a box. 12 slightly bigger than Quarter size macarons. Not really a good deal, but I guess better than getting them from fancy bakeries. 😛

Yum or Yuck?

His Review: In my opinion, I think they should only have the vanilla flavor… The Vanilla flavor had the rich Vanilla taste and it was nice and soft inside and out.  I’m not even a huge Macaron fan… I do have to say the Vanilla was delicious… The Chocolate however was decent but then again for some reason the chocolate flavored Macaron was hard and seemed like it’s been out for a long period of time.  It was hard and somewhat chewy.  It had that chocolate flavor and was decent like I said before but I did not like the fact that it was so hard and chewy as if I had it for quite some time.  I would have to rate the Vanilla flavored Macaron a 4 star ★★★★☆  and I would rate the chocolate flavored Macaron a 3 star ★★★☆☆  Overall… 3.5 star.  I would definitely look around for only the vanilla flavor.. . If they only have the mixed ones… I would probably not get these again.

Her Review: I like sweets. I like macarons. Vanilla macarons were really good. Chocolate macarons however, was disappointing. It was too crunchy. I like my macarons light, yet chewy. Vanilla ones were just that. Light, crispy outside, and buttery, chewy inside. I wish I could just buy vanilla ones. I would prolly buy it again, but also will be working on making perfect macarons at home. Will post a recipe when I perfect a recipe. 😉 Same as my hubby… I give it a 3.5 star.

  1. I just tried these for the first time the other day. I thought the same thing about the vanilla being better than the chocolate at first, but then I let the chocolate ones sit out for hours (like 6, because I went to work). I came back to them, and they were as smooth, light, and fluffy as the vanilla is when it first thaws out. You just have to give the chocolate more time to thaw since it’s thicker in the middle I guess! So yummy.
